Kim Smith

Kim Smith, 46, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, February 16, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on October 2, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Gene Smith and the daughter of Dorothy Buff Chapman and her husband, Jack, of Connelly Springs, NC. Kim was a member of High Peak Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Freedom High School and received her C.N.A. II from Western Piedmont Community College.A loving wife, mother, sister, and mamaw, Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Donald Ray Smith of the home; children, Jamie Bates and his wife, Christi, of Morganton, Heather Bates of Morganton, Dustin Swink of Morganton, Shelly Smith and her husband, Garbino Chavez, of Lumberton, NC, Donald B. Smith of Lumberton, and Dalton E. Smith of Morganton; twelve grandchildren; brothers, Tim Smith and Arn Smith, both of Morganton; a number of nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Kay Baldridge; and her father-in-law, Foye Norman Smith.In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Carroll Baldridge.The family will receive friends from 5-6pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to assist with funeral expenses.
