Lamar "Craty" White

Lamar "Craty" White, 78, of Morganton, NC died Monday, November 25, 2013. He died of complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease after fighting a courageous 5 year battle. Born on May 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Claude N. White, Sr. and Ruby England White. Craty graduated from Glen Alpine High School in 1953 and Lenoir Rhyne College in 1957. He was an executive officer of Skyland Textiles as well as an income tax and financial advisor.Mr. White is survived by his daughters, Leah Ann White and Dawn White Collett and her husband, Robert; and grandchildren, Lee, Cray, and Arlie Collett.In addition to his parents, Craty was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty Price White; his brother, Claude N. White, Jr.; and grandson, Gavin Lamar Sewell.A celebration of Lamar’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Laura Elliott officiating.
