Lance Powell

Lance Powell, 23, beloved son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019.  He was born in Burke County on November 14, 1995.

Lance is survived by his father, Eric Powell (Lisa) and Christie Baker (fiancé, Keith Watson) all of Morganton; sister, Peyton Powell Hamby (Austin) of Greensboro, NC; grandmothers, Stephanie “Missy” Baker and Carol “Grandy” Powell; great-grandmother, Faye “Floss” Griffin; uncle, Scott Baker (Kim); cousin, Elliott; and special friends, The Streets, Jordyn, Adam, Grant, and Pat.

Lance was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jackie Powell and Gene Baker.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Morganton First Church of God.  The celebration of life service will follow in the church at 1 p.m. with Rev. John McDivitt and Rev. Fred Schuszler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Recovery or Burke Hospice and Palliative Care.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
