Larry Gene Brooks

Larry Gene Brooks, 56, of Lenoir St., Morganton, NC, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at his residence. Born in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late Geraldine Brooks Dellinger. Larry was a member of Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church and was owner and operator of Needful Things in Morganton.He is survived by his faithful canine companion, Abigail Tate; brothers, Jerry Dellinger of North Wilkesboro, NC, Gary Dellinger of Charlotte, NC, and Perry Dellinger of Morganton; a sister, Terry Dellinger of Hickory; nephews, Donnie Dellinger and wife, Dawn, and Bradley Dellinger, all of Morganton; several aunts and uncles of the Cherryville area; a great-nephew, Dyson Dellinger; a great-niece, Delaney Dellinger; and his best friend, Jacob Mauney.Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Berry Scott Dellinger, and a companion, Charles Gordon Tate.The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2008 at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church with Reverends Andrew Parkey and Judy Eurey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
