Larry W. Burgess

Larry W. Burgess, 51, of Morganton died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Burke Palliative Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Burke County on August 3, 1963 and was a son of Margaret Rose Burgess of Morganton and the late Charles Richard Burgess. Surviving in addition to his mother is his sister, Donna Burgess Waters and her husband, David, of Morganton and their children, Jake and Megan. He also leaves his faithful canine companion, Toby.
In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clate and Ora Rose, Richard Burgess, and Ruby Beam.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Cross officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church, 210 Brookwood Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
