Laura Ann Carswell, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024. Born May 15, 1951, in Morganton, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Carswell and Pauline Gray Denton Carswell. Laura lived a life filled with love, joy, and a radiant spirit that touched everyone she met.

She had a way of brightening any room with her laughter and love of dancing. Her playful spirit and joyful heart were gifts she shared with family and friends, making every moment spent with her special.

Holiday gatherings held a special place in Laura's heart. Though time with family was often limited to these occasions, she treasured the laughter and connections they brought. She was preceded in death by her siblings Sandy Jack Carswell, Kenneth Elaine Carswell, and Benny Ervin Carswell. She is survived by Steve Carswell (Linda), Gary Carswell, Gayle Carswell, Vickie Young, and Connie Pruiett (Glenn), all of whom will forever hold her memory dear.

Family are invited to honor her memory and the joy she brought to their lives from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

In lieu of traditional flowers, she requested live plants that can be put into the ground in the spring. This honors Laura's cherished memories of growing up in Morganton, where she loved digging up a tree for Christmas and replanting it after the holidays.

Laura's love, laughter, and kind heart will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
