Laura Jean Fears Callaham, 78, died July 3, 2015. She was born October 17, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to Emory B. and Hazel Davis Fears.
Laura graduated from Sylvan Hills High School and received a BS degree in education from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University). She taught school in Fairfax County, Virginia and City of Atlanta. Laura moved to Morganton, NC in 1982. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Aldersgate Sunday School Class, the Friday Afternoon Book Club, and the Quaker Meadows Garden Club.
Laura is survived by her husband, Robert E. Callaham of the home; sons, William R. Callaham of Winchester, VA, John E. Callaham of Greer, SC, and Thomas E. Callaham of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren, Robert Callaham and Sarah Callaham of Winchester, VA.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Morganton at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Fowler officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
