Lee Edward Ramsey

Lee Edward Ramsey, 79, of Clarence Brittain Rd., Morganton, NC died Monday, April 9, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC following a period of declining health. He was born July 4, 1927 in Burke Co., NC and was a son of the late Otis Ramsey and Flavia Chapman Ramsey Pruitt. Lee was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Leonard Ramsey of the home; a son, Jerry Ramsey and wife, Rama, of Asheville, NC; a daughter, Rhonda Ramsey Robinson and husband, Alan, of Morganton; brothers, Joseph "Bud" Ramsey, Jack Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, and Don Ramsey, all of Morganton, John Ramsey of Vale, NC, Frederick Ramsey of Glen Alpine, NC, and Millard "Tooter" Ramsey of Hickory, NC; sisters, Geneva Bradshaw of Lawndale, NC, Jeanette Chapman and Geraldine Lail, both of Morganton, and Marlene Cooper of Valdese, NC; grandchildren, Tara Ramsey, Jeremy Ramsey, Jamie Robinson, Tiffany Pearson, and Heidi Bristol; and great grandchildren, Hannah Pearson, Tabitha Pearson, Benjamin Pearson, Jasmine Ramsey, and Elias Gaines.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence on Clarence Brittain Rd., Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
