Lee Obie Crawley

Lee Obie Crawley, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Charles George V.A. Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on February 14, 1924, he was the son of the late Charlie P. Crawley and Callie Dale Crawley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Pamela Jean Fisher. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Lee was stationed in Italy and was very proud to serve his country. Lee loved to walk in his NC mountains. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.Mr. Crawley is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Pritchard Crawley of the home; a daughter, Judy Crawley Fisher of Morganton; grandchildren, Renee Fisher, Lee Alan Fisher, and Debra Ann Fisher, all of Morganton; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Alan Fisher and Corey Lee Wheeler; a sister, Marie Russell and husband, Medford, of Waynesville, NC; and a brother, Phifer Crawley and wife, Sarah, of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military graveside rites to be performed by Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
