Lee T. Shuffler

Lee T. Shuffler, 86 of Morganton, NC died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Burke Palliative Care Center. Born October 26, 1927 in Forsyth County, NC, he was a son of the late Lonnie Lee Shuffler and Sadie Smyre Shuffler. He was a U. S. Army veteran and was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings. Lee was an active member of Zion Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian who witnessed for the Lord to everyone he met. For many years, he visited shut-ins in his church and community. Lee was an avid gardener and especially loved raising tomatoes which he gave to people in his community. His generosity and caring nature was widely recognized. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Ray Shuffler; and sisters, Isabell Setzer and Jeannie Shuffler.Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Mull Shuffler of the home; a son, Steve Shuffler and wife, Millie of Morganton; grandchildren, Stephanie Mills and husband, Steven and C.J. Shuffler and wife, Karen; great grandchildren, Sean, Connor, Lena, and Elijah Mills and Talon and Clark Shuffler; brothers, Jack Shuffler and wife, Virginia, Bill Shuffler and wife, Betty, and Lonnie "Dude" Shuffler and wife, Martha all of Morganton; sisters, Ann Crytz of Morganton and Evelyn Leaf of Lincolnton; and a brother-in-law, Alan Setzer of Boiling Springs, NC; and a number of nephews and nieces.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Parker and Rev. Keith Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
