Leila Lefevers Garrison

Leila Lefevers Garrison, 94, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, November 17, 2013 after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on July 23, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Tonnie Lefevers and Essie Cline Lefevers. Mrs. Garrison was a member of Salem United Methodist Church; she loved her church and her church family. Leila was an immaculate homemaker and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.Mrs. Garrison is survived by her daughter, Beverly Williams and her husband, R. Landres, of Morganton; a son, Norman O. Garrison and his wife, Doris, of Morganton; grandchildren, Debra W. Waddell and her husband, David, of Morganton, Pamela W. Martin and her husband, Randy, of Virginia, Chris Garrison and his wife, Shelia, of Morganton, and Keith Garrison and his wife, Kim, of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Spencer Martin of Virginia, Lucas Martin of Virginia, Josh Garrison of Morganton, and Morgan Garrison of Morganton; step-great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Waddell and his wife, Katy, of West Jefferson, NC; a great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Waddell; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Jack Garrison; and siblings, Roy Lefevers, Louis "Bus" Lefevers, Thelma Duckworth, and Pauline Duckworth.The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of College Pines for their compassionate care of Leila.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Conforti officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Beverly Williams on Propst Road, Morganton.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1206 Salem Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
