Lela Highsmith Puett, 92, of Chesterfield,Virginia, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 13, 2010. Born in Bethel, N.C., she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson. Lela was a dedicated Christian; she loved to play the piano and spend time with her beloved family.She is survived by a son, Aubrey N. Puett; daughter, Elaine Kelly; granddaughters, Erin Kelly, Megan Creehan and husband Patrick; nephew, David Puett, his wife, Joan, and their children, Pamela and D. J.; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Samuel; sister-in-law, Myrtle Highsmith; family friend, April Upton; Jimmy and Judy Beach; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.The family received friends, Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), Richmond, VA 23234. Graveside service in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 5388 Mt. Olive Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kingsland Baptist Church, 8801 Perrymont Rd., Richmond, VA 23237. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
