Leland Wannamaker Rhame, 79, of Morganton, NC died Friday, September 13, 2024 after a short, acute medical crisis. He was born on May 31, 1945 in Camden, SC to the late Walter Ashby Rhame and Nelle Wannamaker Rhame. Mr. Rhame was the founder and former owner of Blue Ridge Audiology in Morganton. He was a 1963 graduate of Camden High School. He graduated from Wofford College in 1972 and received his graduate degree in Audiology from the University of South Carolina in 1974. Mr. Rhame was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Korea. He enjoyed hiking, travelling and tending to his Japanese maple collection. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Ashby Rhame, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah Kimbrell Lancaster of Morganton, NC; daughter, Lea Virginia Rhame (husband, Victor Brown) of Eugene, OR.

Services have been postponed and will be announced when rescheduled.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a community park association of your choice or to the Friends of the Valdese Rec (https://friendsofthevaldeserec.org) or to Oak Hill Community Park and Forest (www.foothillsconservancy.org) in Morganton, NC.

I have some good memories of Leland and our work time together at the NC School for the Deaf in Morganton. We had some fun times as both of us struggled to learn sign language well. I remember a fun guy that shared many good laughs with me.
