Lena Franklin Mosteller

Lena Franklin Mosteller, 93, of Morganton, NC walked into Heaven on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born July 26, 1920 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Edd Jackson Franklin and Willie Chapman Franklin. She was a charter member of Zion United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church. Lena served as custodian at Christ United Methodist Church for over 25 years, and was very active in all parts of church life. She was a faithful member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She and her husband, Tollie, owned and operated Mosteller Plant Farm and Statuary located at their home. She was an avid gardener and she was a faithful servant of the Lord.Lena is survived by children, Ted Mosteller and wife, Harriet, of Apalachicola, FL, Jerry Mosteller and wife, Christine of Morganton, Rachel Funderburk and husband, David of Morganton, and Libby Miller and husband, Gary of Burnsville, NC; grandchildren, Ted Mosteller, Jr. and wife, Pamela, Marty Mosteller and wife, Carol, Laurie Cesaroni and husband, Michael, Joey Mosteller and wife, Lynn, John Miller and wife, Jennifer, Luke Miller and wife, Tara; great-grandchildren, Brianna Cesaroni, Donovan Cesaroni, Jennifer Mosteller, Taylor Beauregard and husband, Chris, Lane Mosteller, Haley Mosteller, Isaac Mosteller, Abbey Mosteller, Emma Miller, and Zoe Miller; a brother, J. D. Franklin of Oak Ridge, TN; a sister, Betty Brendle and husband, Jim of Valdese; and special caregivers, Lisa Rockett, her son, Ethan, and their Yorkie, Presleigh Marie.In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Tollie Mosteller; and sisters, Lorina Wiggins, Margaret McCall, and Lavaughn Weatherman.A Celebration of Lena’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Freeze officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. A private family graveside will be held earlier Thursday at Burke Memorial Park.
