Lena Popp Mull

Lena Popp Mull, 84, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Mission Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Russell County, VA on March 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George Popp and Hellen Honto Popp. Lena was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She moved to Morganton in 1948 to attend the Grace Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1951. She worked there at the hospital and later worked at Broughton Hospital until she retired in 1968.Lena is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arnold Richard Mull of the home; brothers, Lawrence and Franklin Popp; and several nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Joe, George, and Lewis; and four sisters, Ellen, Edith, Goldie, and Margaret.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
