Leslie J. Shaffer

Leslie J. Shaffer, 82, of Morganton died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence. Born in Inglewood, CA on December 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Leslie Eugene Shaffer and Edna Lewis Shaffer. Leslie was a member of Drexel First Church of God and was a dedicated volunteer at Grace Hospital for many years. He was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage with over 20 years of service.Leslie is survived by his son, Darren Shaffer and his wife, Beth, of Hickory, NC; granddaughters, Bethany, Jenna, and Dara Shaffer; and many beloved neighbors.In addition to his parents, Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Shaffer, and a sister, Leah Shaffer Gaylord.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
