Lessie “Louise” Davis Smith

Lessie “Louise” Davis Smith, 75 of Morganton, NC passed away after a brief and unexpected illness and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2017. She was born in Burke County, NC on December 8, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Victor Columbus Davis and Annie Mae Harris Davis. Louise was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church where she loved to bake for the Open Hearts Bakery. Louise loved to garden and enjoyed making special arts and crafts for her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Mode and Linda Perry; brothers, Ned Davis, Ed Davis, and Danny Davis.
Louise is survived by her husband, Johnny O. Smith; daughter, Donna Smith Mull and husband, Jimmy; grandsons, Jimmy Mull, III and wife, Jennifer and Travis Mull and wife, Leslie; great-grandson, Easton Mull; great-granddaughter, Kaiden Mull; brother, Jim Davis and wife, Carol; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating. The family is having a private burial.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
