Lester Copeland

Lester Copeland, 79, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, August 23, 2019. Born on March 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Alexander and Emma Copeland. Lester was a member of Brookwood and El Bethel Baptist Churches. He started working at Drexel Furniture and continued to work in multiple furniture manufacturers. Lester was an avid runner, a founder of Athletic Quilts and he also loved to recycle.

Lester is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Beach Copeland; children, Patricia Glick, Robert Murray (Lisa), Gary Copeland (Beth), Charlotte Copeland-Grissom (Rick); grandchildren, Bryce Patton, Kristen Bowman, Landon Murray, Katelyn Duckworth, Lauren Duckworth, Heather Copeland, Will Copeland, Heath Pearson, Austin Pearson; great-grandchild, Caroline Pearson; sisters, Francis Beck and Nina Hartman.

In addition to his parents, Lester is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Copeland; sister, Juanita Chandler; daughter-in-law, Melissa Copeland.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Burke Memorial Park with the Pastor Justin Cunningham officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
