Lexie Earley Duty

Lexie Earley Duty, 80, of Morganton, NC died Monday, June 20, 2016.  Born in Haysi, VA on October 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Bud Powers and Velva Ratliff Powers.  Lexie was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.  She loved music, dancing, and cats, and she never met a stranger.

A loving mother and grandmother, Lexie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Earley Osteen and her husband, Greg, of Hendersonville, NC, Margaret Earley Hamby and her husband, Tommy, of Granite Falls, NC, and Taffi Earley Yount and her husband, Brett, of Morganton; grandchildren, Keley King, Tangi Brown, Shanon Foster, Nikki Carter, and Jamie Yount; great-grandchildren, Jade Hudgins Murr, Hunter Bishop, Tylor Foster, Chandler Carter, Anna King, and Peyton King; and a great-great-grandson, Brantlee Hudgins.

In addition to her parents, Lexie was preceded in death by her first husband, Mack Earley; and her second husband, Gene Duty.

The family will receive friends from 7- 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  At other times the family will be at the residence of Margaret Hamby in Granite Falls.
