Lillian Raye Martin

Lillian Raye Martin, 88, of John Martin Drive, Hickory, NC died Friday, August 20, 2010. Born in Burke County, NC on May 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James Alexander Martin and Bessie Huffman Martin. Lillian was a member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church.She is survived by her brother, Dr. Tellis Martin of Concord, NH; sisters, Mayo Martin Frye of Hickory, NC and Beatrice Ridenhour of Englewood, FL; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by sisters, Annie Lee Burch and Dallis Martin, and a brother, John Herman Martin.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2010 at Carswell Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. James Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
