Lillie Hensley "Nonna" Carswell

Lillie Hensley "Nonna" Carswell, 87, of Morganton died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Rutherford County on June 3, 1926 and was the daughter of the late John Miles Hensley and Ermin Hensley. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and working puzzles. She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carswell was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Carswell; sisters, Sally Hensley, Eleanor Biddix and Margie Greene; and brother, Jim Hensley.Surviving are her daughters, Sandra and Stan Beam, Carol and Tom Clayton, Terry and Steve Poteat, Sharon and Randy Carswell, Wanda and Donald Creswell; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jimmy Ethridge, Michelle and Doug McClurd, Treg and April McGee, Craig and Mandy McGee, Ronnie and Cindy Poteat, Renee and Scott Mosteller, Kristy Poteat, Nathan and Robin Carswell, Brandy and Ryan Benefield, Shane and Wendy Creswell, Brad and Paula, and Missy; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Caitlin Ethridge, Grayson Ethridge, Brynn and Kynsley Benefield, Kayla Poteat, Colby Poteat, Jacob Baker, Isaac Baker, Taylor Whisenant, Courtney and Aaron Palmer, Ashton McGee, Nicholas McGee, Stevee, Statlee, Starlee, Carly Creswell, Tori, Lizzy, Cierra, Ericha; Maddie, Katlin, Kaitlyn and Bryson; brothers, Ray Hensley, Jerry Hensley and John Hensley; and a sister, Doris Wayne.The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev.
