Linda Avery Caldwell, 70, of Morganton, NC passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1953 in Burke County to the late Gilmore Avery, Jr. and Annie Harrison Avery. Linda was a member of Green Street Presbyterian Church where she played the organ and was a member of the choir. She was a fun-loving and caring wife who loved, and was loved by, her husband, daughters and family. She was a Godly person, a beautiful singer and a very family-oriented person. Linda retired from J Iverson Riddle Developmental Center after eighteen years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Caldwell; children, Felicia Chambers, Andrea Suddreth (Yul), Tina Hayden, Consuelo Chambers, Aurora McIver (Christopher), Joy Dephue, Steve Caldwell, Jr., and Christopher Caldwell; siblings, Angela Avery and Ray Avery (Jean); thirteen grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle, Raymond Harrison; and her grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Green Street Presbyterian Church. The funeral will begin at 3pm in the church with Rev. Dr. Marla Patchel and Rev. Yul Suddreth officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
