Linda Lou Smith

Linda Lou Smith, 71, of Morganton, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, December 5, 2017. She was born April 3, 1946 in Burke County, NC and was the daughter of the late James Taylor Smith and Mary Martha Whisenant Smith. Linda was a longtime member of Mount Home Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school and was the secretary for the choir. She graduated from Morganton High School and the first nursing class that graduated from Western Piedmont Community College. After graduation she worked for Dr. M.M. Riggs. She did medical transcription for Burke Primary Care and Blue Ridge Medical Oncology and Dr. Baden. Linda enjoyed playing piano and making crafts for her friends and family.
She is survived by sister, Martha Dale of Morganton; nephews, Franklin Dale and Jeff Dale of Morganton; great-nephews, Joshua and Haiden Dale; and great-niece, Brittany Dale.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Mount Home Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Graceful Giving Fund at Mount Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
