Lisa C. Benton, 58, of Morganton, NC, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on May 5, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Clara Smith Benton.

Lisa was of the Baptist Faith. She worked as a registered nurse at UNC Health Caldwell for 28 years. She lived for making memories with her grandchildren. Lisa fought a courageous battle with cancer for 13 years and still managed to work.

She is survived by her son, Jason McClellan (Joy); daughter, Leah Ligatti (Philip); grandchildren, Rachel, Jaelyn, Kinah, and Peytyn Ligatti; a bonus grandson, Bentley Watts; brothers, Len Benton (Katrina), Barry Benton, Randy Benton, and Larry Wilson (Sherry); sister, Dedra Thielen (Patrick); and lots of friends.

In addition to her mother, Lisa was preceded in death by a sister, Terry Richardson; sister-in-law, Teresa Benton; and niece and nephew, Amy Biggerstaff and Johnathon Biggerstaff.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Danny Castle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Lisa IS an amazing wonderful woman of the Lord, I worked with her at UNC as a nurse friend. I know that she is with the Lord and I WILL see her beautiful smile again. She Is a courageous woman, a fighter for what she believes in ,she is funny, And a wonderful nurse. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family that is left behind. May the Lord comfort you during this time. 🙏May those who love her so deeply see the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as their savior so they can see her again.
