Lisa Renee Clark Preslar, 57, was called into the presence of God on Thursday, October 18, 2024. She was born in Burke County August 28, 1967 to Betty Mitchell Clark and the late Robert H. Clark. Lisa was a 1985 graduate of Freedom High School in Morganton, NC, and furthered her studies at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapy Assistant Studies in 1989. She focused her career as an LPTA mostly in Home Health for almost 35 years. She loved her patients, and frequently received thank-you cards for helping them heal or get back on their feet. Lisa was a lifetime UNC Tarheel fan who attended many football and basketball games as well as 2 Final Four Basketball Tournaments with her aunt, Carolyn Williams Smith. She also enjoyed traveling the world and going to Disney with her husband of 25 years, John B. Preslar.

Lisa was a faithful servant of God at Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, Hildebran, NC until she and John moved to Naples, Florida in 2020. While there, they worshipped at Faith Apostolic Church. Lisa recently received a Women of Faith Award for her continued faith and courage during her walk with the Lord. She always tackled life’s challenges with a smile and a prayer. She valiantly fought cancer over the last year in Florida until four months ago, when she moved to Winston-Salem, NC to live with her sister, Debra Ann Clark, and her mother, Betty, for additional chemotherapy treatments.

Lisa is survived by husband, John of Naples, FL; mother, Betty and sister, Debra, both of Winston Salem (formerly of Morganton); and maternal aunt, Carolyn of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her beloved cocker spaniel, Bentley, who remained by her side even at the end. Her memory will be cherished by many friends around the world, extended family, and the Preslar family.

Besides her father, Lisa was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Gus and Vergie Williams Mitchell; paternal grandparents, James Odell and Annie Ollis Clark; step-grandmothers Mary Alice Mitchell Clark, and Nell Hardin Clark, all of Morganton.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton. A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Truth Tabernacle UPC in Hildebran with Rev. Marcus Huntley, Rev. Gerald Huntley, Rev. Robert Sims, and Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Trellis Hospice and Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103 (trellissupport.org/content/ways-give).

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
