Lita Jenkins Poteat

Lita Jenkins Poteat, 92, of Drexel, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.  Born in Cocke County, TN on May 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late J. Wilbur Smith and Cordia Davis Smith.  Lita was a devoted mother and grandmother and retired from Broughton Hospital after 30 years of service.  She was a wonderful cook and made exquisite fried pies.  She also loved to read and do needlework.

Lita is survived by her son, Raymond Butch Jenkins (Ruby); daughter, Pauline Jenkins Dale (Britt); grandchildren, Lisa Jenkins Beck, Jason Scott Dale, Chris Jenkins, Bella Gray Sessoms, and Mandy Childres; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lita was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Anderson Jenkins; 2^nd husband, Floyd Tron Poteat; and son, Ronnie Ray Jenkins.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Brad Childres officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
