Lois D. Bowman, 69, of Amherst Road, Morganton, NC, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Valdese General Hospital. Born April 20, 1936 in McDowell County, NC, she was the daughter of Pearl Hoppes Carpenter and the late Richard L. Davis. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Bowman, and a daughter, Sheila Marie Bowman. Lois was of the Baptist faith. She was owner and operator of Bowman Day Care in Drexel and was lovingly known by everyone as "Ma Maw." Mrs. Bowman also worked at Valdese Manufacturing.
Lois is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard Bowman of the home; a son, Richard A. Bowman of Hickory, NC; brothers, Howard Wayne Davis and Barry Davis, both of Morganton; her mother and step-father, Pearl Carpenter and husband, Reece, of Drexel; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
