Lois Emmajean Sheehan Boone

Lois Emmajean Sheehan Boone, 79, of Morganton died Sunday, July 6, 2014. Mrs. Boone was born May 29, 1935 in Buncombe County to the late Leonard Sheehan and Thelma Shipley Sheehan. She was of the Baptist faith and loved children and did private babysitting for many families through the years. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the loving care given to their mother by the staffs at Grace Heights and Burke Hospice.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Boone; son, Carl Ray Boone; daughters, Betty Jean Boone, Laura Irene Boone, and Nancy Christine Powell; and by six siblings.

Mrs. Boone is survived by her children and their spouses, Becky and Mike Norman of Morganton, Clyde and Jan Boone of Nebo, and William "Booter" and Doris Boone of Glen Alpine; sisters, Barbara Fraley and Janice Rathbone both of Waynesville; son-in-law, Harrell Powell of Glen Alpine; daughter-in-law, Kathy Boone of Morganton; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Sky View Memorial Park, Asheville, NC with the Reverends Ricky Watkins and Jerry McClain officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sossoman Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Melissa Michaels, 3885 Bennett Rd., Morganton.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Boone's memory to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
