Lois "Jean" Mastin Banner

Lois "Jean" Mastin Banner, 67, of Morganton died Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born on April 10, 1946 in Avery County, NC and was a daughter of the late William Carson Mastin and Camoline Ward Mastin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Mastin, and by sisters, Thelma Smith and Carolyn South. Jean loved listening to music and traveling. She was of the Baptist faith.She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jimmy "Red" Banner; sons, Jimmy "Scott" Banner of the home and Randall Allen Banner and his wife, Michelle, of Morganton; a grandson, Hunter Joseph Banner; brothers, Howard Mastin of Elk Park, NC and Charles Mastin and his wife, Judy, of Matney, NC; and by sisters, Mary Townsend of Goldston, NC, Ruth Townsend of Banner Elk, NC, and Juanita Carpenter and her husband, Leroy, of Plumtree, NC.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Harold Ward and Robert English officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday one hour before the service.
