Lois South Stamey

Lois South Stamey, 71, formerly of Shuffler Road, Morganton, NC died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Brian Center, Spruce Pine, NC following a period of declining health. Born in Greene County, AR on February 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Clara LeMew South. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Lee Stamey, a half-brother, George South, and a half-sister, Helen South. Lois was of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Stamey is survived by her son, Steve Stamey and wife Erlene, of Avery County, NC; a daughter, Brenda Stamey; grandchildren, Steven Stamey and wife, Tonya, of Lenoir, NC, Dana Clarke and husband, J.R., of Morganton; a great-grandson, Nicholas Stamey; brother, Lamond South and wife, Norma, of Buford, GA, and Bill South and wife, Barbara, of Sedgewick, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Darrin Waldroup officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence, 137 Shuffler Road, Morganton.
