Lonnie F. Clark, 63, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 following a period of declining health. Born in Avery County, NC on March 15, 1949, he was the son of the late Floyd Clark and Louise Woodie Clark. Lonnie was a retired employee of Great Lakes Carbon Corporation and was an avid bluegrass music fan. He loved playing his guitar and banjo, and he was a regular at the Drexel Barber Shop. He enjoyed farming and was a wonderful steward of the Earth.Lonnie is survived by his wife, June Kuhne of the home; a son, Stacey Clark and his wife, Danna, of Boston, KY; a step-son, Sean Kuhne and his wife, Bridget, of Remlap, AL; grandchildren, Marcus and Julia Clark; step-grandchildren, Albert and Austin Kuhne; a brother, Jerry L. Clark of Morganton; sisters, Jean C. Harrell of Asheville, NC and Janell C. Wakefield and her husband, Charles, of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center with Rev. Steve Gwyn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barber Shop Preservation Fund, c/o First Citizens Bank, 280 Main St. West, Valdese, NC 28690.
