Lorene T. Parker

Lorene T. Parker, 82, of Burkemont Rd., Morganton, NC died Monday, January 16, 2006 at Grace Hospital following an extended illness. She was born June 1, 1923 in Burke County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Myrtle Taylor Berry. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Buford Parker; and a brother, Jeff Taylor. Lorene worked for 30 years at Salem School, and also was an owner and operator of Parker and Sons Apple Orchard. She was a lifelong member of Burkemont Baptist Church.

Lorene is survived by sons, James Larry Parker and Paul Jeffery Parker, both of Morganton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Burkemont Baptist Church with the Reverends David Mills and Eddy Bunton officiating. Mrs. Parker will be placed in Burkemont Baptist Church thirty minutes before the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a personal charity of choice. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
