Lottie Smith Tallent

Lottie Smith Tallent, 95, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on March 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Smith and Texie Anna Swink Smith. Lottie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of East Valdese Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Tallent; siblings, Belle Hudson, Clyde Smith, Kathleen Dale, Jackie Lamb, Howard Smith, Roy Smith, Carolyn Bradshaw and Hubert Smith; and grandchild, Bill Dietz.
Lottie is survived by her children, Ann Dietz and husband, John, David Ross and wife, Diana all of Morganton, and Gwen Watts of Ft. Myers, FL; step-children, Patricia Willis and husband, Dale and Debra Smith and husband, Steven all of Morganton; grandchildren, William Ross, Angela Tugman, “Jack” Clyde Butler, Jr., Melissa Crawford and Cynthia Holt; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Smith, Emanuel Smith, John Smith, Jerry Smith and Robert Smith; and sisters, Clara Powell and Cuteene Britt.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
