Lou Ellen Hudson Martin

Lou Ellen Hudson Martin, 84, of Connelly Springs, NC died Wednesday, February 10, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on February 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Max Hudson and Velvie Butler Hudson.  Lou Ellen was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a quiet and loving person.

Mrs. Martin is survived by sons, Bruce Martin and his wife, Cathy, of Valdese, NC, Wayne Martin and his wife, Debra, of Connelly Springs, and Richard Martin of Connelly Springs; daughters, Norma Bowman and her husband, Steve, of Claremont, NC and Marilyn Yancey and her husband, Johnny, of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Laura Martin and her husband, John Reynolds, Tyler Bowman, Natalie Jones and her husband, Nathan, James Hogan, Emily Martin, and Katie Martin; and great-grandchildren, Johnny Reynolds, Ava Reynolds, and Mason Jones.

In addition to her parents, Lou Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Martin; a sister, Bertha Hudson; and two brothers, Thelma Swink and Leroy Swink.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Price and the Rev. Jason Hoyle officiating.  The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 – 2pm prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
