Louise Hallyburton Jones of 208 Park Street, Morganton passed away September 19, 2009 while a patient at Grace Heights Nursing Home.Mrs. Jones was born June 4, 1912 in Burke County and was the eldest child of the late Thomas Daniel Hallyburton and Estelle Whisenant Hallyburton. She was the wife of the late Arthur Howard Jones who died May 7, 1983.She is survived by her son, William Warren Jones and his wife, Kay, grandsons William Edward (Ted) Jones and his wife Lora, Thomas Daniel Jones and his wife Gaye, and David Gordon Jones and his wife Ginger.Her grandson, James Allen (Jay) Jones preceded her in death.She is survived by great-grandchildren Daniel Jennings Jones, Drew Thomas Jones, Morgan Elizabeth Jones, Spencer Allen Jones and Savannah Leigh Jones.

Surviving also is her sister, Mabel Hallyburton Owens.Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by sisters Pauline H. Houck, Glenn H. Hensley and brothers Joseph Benjamin Hallyburton, Thomas Edward Hallyburton and Billy Hallyburton.

Mrs. Jones was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church and was sustained by her strong religious faith. Her personal Bible had notations indicating that she had read it in its’ entirety as many as eighteen times beginning in 1983.Mrs. Jones came to adulthood at the peak of the Great Depression, an event which had an effect on her entire life. Hard work, frugality and self-sufficiency marked her approach to life. She loved nature and received joy and satisfaction from her flower and vegetable gardens.One of her greatest gifts was her unwavering belief in and support of her son.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
