Louise Lane Abernathy

Louise Lane Abernathy, 83, of Carbon City Rd. in Morganton died Monday, June 22, 2009 at her residence. She was born June 6, 1926 in Morganton, and was a daughter of the late Fritz Alexander Lane and Jessie Whisenant Lane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Bill Lane. Louise was an active member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church where she still taught the Senior Women’s Sunday School class. She was a retired employee of Hanes.She is survived by her husband, Jack E. Abernathy, Sr. of the home; children, Barbra Abernathy Taylor and husband, Bo of Morganton, Gary A. Abernathy and wife, Christi of Glen Alpine, and Eddie Abernathy of Raleigh; grandchildren, Bo Taylor, Jr. and wife, Tammy, Brent Taylor and wife, Meredith, Kirt Abernathy, Gretchen Whisnant and husband, Chuck, Corey Stockstad, Taylor Stockstad, and Marissa Stockstad; great-grandchildren, Bo Taylor, III, Bryan Taylor, Braeyon Taylor, Abby Taylor, Cassie Johnson, and Ava Whisnant; a brother, Fred Lane and wife, Jean of Morganton; and a sister, Sandra Smith and husband, Michael of Hildebran.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Calvin Heights Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Culbertson and Rev. Jeff Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvin Heights Baptist Church Pew Bibles Fund, 107 Calvin Heights St., Morganton, NC 28655.
