Louise Miller Buchanan, 87, of Morganton, NC went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Born in Mitchell County, NC on May 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Allen Miller and Mattie Pittman Miller. Louise was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church and a retired textile worker. She was the best 87 year old corn-hole player and was the greatest mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her sons, Johnny Buchanan and Marie Netherton and Van Buchanan and his wife, Deanna, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Jamie Buchanan and his wife, Morgan, Hillary Buchanan, and Zach Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Josh McGalliard, Kendra Buchanan, Emily Buchanan, Mattox Buchanan, and Beckham Buchanan; great-great-grandchildren, Camden and Olivia; and a special friend, Carol Buchanan.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Pop” Buchanan; and 4 brothers, Harry, Howard, Paul, and Ed Miller.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 8 at Walker Road Baptist Church with Bishop Jessie Carr and the Dr. Rocky Branch officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bakersville, NC.
