Louise Ollis Hamrick Curtis

Louise Ollis Hamrick Curtis, 78, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 9, 1937, she was the daughter of Quentin Ollis and Lois Clontz Ollis.  She graduated from Gamewell High School and continued on to receive an Associate Degree from Caldwell Community College.

Louise worked as a Media Center Coordinator for Caldwell County Schools for 20 years.  A caring and loving person, Louise possessed a joyful spirit, a kind disposition, and the ability to encourage all with whom she came into contact.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with her family, and singing with the Burke Choraleers.  She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and held numerous positions over the years.

Louise is survived by her husband of 33 years, William Ralph Curtis of the home; daughters, Cathy Belasco and her husband, Tony, of Carolina Shores and Annette Denton and her husband, Virgil, of Morganton; a son, Gary Hamrick and his wife, Regena, of Morganton; step-sons, Gary Curtis and his wife, Betty, of Morganton and Dionne Curtis and his wife, Kathleen, of Morganton; grandchildren, Erica Carswell, Travis Carswell, Champ Denton, Kirby Denton, Cody Hamrick, Gary Scott Curtis, Greg Curtis, Kim Garrison, and Allen Curtis; a number of great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Ollis of Morganton and John Ollis of Brevard, NC; sisters, Jean Chapman of Lenoir, NC and Doris Ollis of Morganton; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded by her first husband, Donald Hamrick; a brother, Bernard Ollis; a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Ollis; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Goble.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Curtis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
