Annie Louise Williams Cannon, 99, of Morganton went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 while surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 3, 1916 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin Williams and Lura Cooper Williams.  Louise attended Chesterfield and Morganton High Schools.  Following her graduation from Morganton High School, she began her working career at Morganton Full Fashion Hosiery, and she retired from there with over 30 years of service.  After her retirement she worked for several years with the children at Tabernacle Christian School.

Louise loved the Lord, her family, her church family, and friends.  She was affectionately known as Super Mom, Go-Go Granny, or Granny to her family and as Granny Cannon to a host of friends.  She enjoyed traveling with friends and was an avid reader.

Surviving to cherish her memory are a daughter, Carolyn Cannon Williams of Morganton; a son, John D. Cannon and his wife, Linda, of Morganton; grandchildren, Robert J. “Bobby” Williams, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Connelly Springs, NC, Denise Williams Rust and her husband, Dennis, of Morganton, and Kela Cannon Roth and her husband, John, of Alexandria, TN; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bennett Cannon of Lincolnton, NC.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Luther C. “Luke” Cannon; a brother, Ernest Williams; a sister, Mary Hipps; and a son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Williams.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2015 at North Morganton United Methodist Church.  The funeral will be held at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Burt Williams officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Drive, Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Grace Heights Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate and wonderful care of their Mom.  They made the last four-year journey of her life comfortable, pleasant, and medically exceptional.  “We cannot thank you enough.”
