Loy Odell Benton

Loy Odell Benton, 82, formerly of Morganton, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Keven, in Belmont on Friday, April 23, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on July 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Horace P. Benton and Annie Mae Buff Benton.  Loy was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Morganton.  He retired from Drexel Heritage and enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Mr. Benton is survived by his sons, Dwain Benton (Lori) and Keven Benton (Lori); grandchildren, Heather Benton Wilson (Kelly), Ashley Benton Roberts (Jeff), and Scotty Benton; great-grandchildren, Joshua Roberts, Zoe Roberts, and Liam Roberts; sister-in-law, Linda Benton; nieces and nephews, Donna LaFevers (Ronnie), Jodi Benton, Keith Norman (Sharon), Linda Ann Smith (Pete), Marty Norman (Shannon), Judy Norman St. Clair (Joe), Shirley Norman Cobb, and James Harrison Norman (Hazel); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers.

In addition to his parents, Loy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Benton; brother, Junior Benton; sisters, Ardie Mae Benton Norman and Fern Benton Norman; brothers-in-law, Frank Norman and James Norman; and nephews, Gary Benton and Edward Norman.

Services for Mr. Benton will be held at a later date.
