Lu Piercy Meise, beloved wife and mother, she was born in Bryson City in the summer of 1959 to parents John and Lilian Piercy. The family moved to Morganton during her youth. Lu loved her community, with a special fondness for the friends she made during her formative years growing up in the Chesterfield area and for her coworkers at Harris-Teeter of Morganton and Lowes Foods of Mountain View.
Lu is preceded in death by her parents and by siblings Lois and Richard Piercy. She is survived by her husband, David Meise, and her son, Stacey Shores, as well as her step-children Nathaniel and Rebekah Meise, step-grandson, Brennon Meise, and close friends Danny and Linda Chandler.
Lu loved dogs, and spent many hours outdoors with her husband and their two dogs, Daisy and Bella. She found great beauty in butterflies and great joy in boating on Lake James.
The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the Colonial Chapel at 11am with the Rev. Jacob Willis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Hope Chest for Women, a nonprofit organization based in Asheville that seeks to ease the financial burdens on women who are being treated for breast and gynecological cancer in western North Carolina. Those who wish to honor Lu’s memory by making a donation can do so at www.hopechestforwomen.org.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
