Lucas Wylie Buff, 34, of Denton’s Chapel Church Road, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
Lucas was born in Morganton on January 22, 1984, to Larry Buff and Debbie McFarland Buff. Lucas worked his entire adult life alongside his father at their family business, Sweet Creek Fencing, where he was a self-described “livestock confinement engineer.”
Lucas was deeply committed to the Morganton Moose Lodge and Moose International. In Morganton, Lucas served as a past governor of Lodge 193 and just last week he was inducted as the WENOCA Moose Legion District President.
Lucas was preceded in death by his grandparents Major Buff Jr., Jean McFarland, Paul and Willa Mae Mull and his mother-in-law Mary Halstead.
In addition to his parents, Lucas is survived by his wife Allison Buff, his sisters Katie Buff, Tonya Buff Scott and her husband Brandon, his grandfather James McFarland, his step-mother Jeanette Buff, his father-in-law Gary (Hickory) Lambert, his sister-in law Pamela Elkins and her husband Timothy, his nieces Addy Scott and Annabelle Elkins, and numerous friends who were also considered family.
The family will receive friends at Burkemont Baptist Church on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3:00pm-5:00pm. The funeral will be held at 5pm at the church with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the funeral service, family and friends are also invited to the Morganton Moose Lodge for a meal to be provided by the lodge.
