It’s with great sadness that the family of Lucille Banner Ramsey announces her passing after a extended illness, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Born April 10, 1924 in Avery County, NC to the late Walter and Tempie Reed Banner. She was a retired supervisor in dietary for the NC School for the Deaf for 30years.
In addition to her parents Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Ramsey; son, George Melton Ramsey; great-grandson, Jonathan Isaac Carswell; great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Ramsey; sisters, Hazel Pritchard, Lucy Thompson, Helen Turbyfill, and Gertrude Clark; brothers, Earl Banner, Tom Banner, Basil Banner, Hobert, and Paul Banner.
Survived left to cherish Lucille’s memory are her children, Elizabeth “Lib” Pollygus and husband, Emil of Morganton, NC, Sadie Powell and husband, Dean of Mars Hill, NC, Patsy “Pat” Wakefield and husband, Barry and daughter-in-law, Linda Ramsey all of Morganton, NC; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Coates officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of College Pines and Rehabilitation Center in Valdese, NC and the staff of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care for all their compassion and care.
