Lucille Templeton Bernard

Lucille Templeton Bernard, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Catawba County, NC on December 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Eugene B. Templeton and Rena Templeton. Lucille was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Koinonia Sunday School Class. She was an R.A. and G.A. Leader in the church.Along with her husband, Lucille owned Bernard Pontiac, Cadillac, and GMC Truck and Pavilion Roller Skating. She had a passion for reading, needle-work, being a Sunday School teacher, and a Girl Scout leader.Lucille is survived by her sons, Mellie J. Bernard, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC, Danny A. Bernard and wife, Susan, of Nebo, NC, and Tim G. Bernard and wife, Suzy, of Valdese, NC; a daughter, Terri L. Garrou and husband, Kyle, of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Nealy Marie Bernard, Danny Alan Bernard, Jr., Samantha Totten, Corey Totten, Kathryn Totten, Amber Nicole Bernard, Penny Lane Bernard, Brittany Lynn DeBerry, Timothy Giles Bernard, Jr., Alex Jared Oliver, Elliott Jennings Garrou, and Jacob Kyle Garrou; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
