Lucy Ann Freeman Branch

Lucy Ann Freeman Branch, 86, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Carl Odell Freeman and Annie Mae McGinnis Freeman.  Lucy was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.

Mrs. Branch is survived by her daughters, Norma Branch Wheeler and her husband, Walt, of Morganton, Dianne Branch York of Morganton, Cathy Branch Triplett of Morganton, Christine Branch Austin of Marion, NC, Deborah Branch Smithey of Connelly Springs, NC, Aggie Branch DeHetre and her husband, Skip, of Morganton, and Pamela Branch Cansler of Lenoir, NC; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Freeman of Morganton and Ray Freeman of Lake Lure, NC; sisters, Virginia Lefever, Grace Robinson, Gladys Ross, all of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Festus Odell Branch; a son, Gary Festus Branch; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, James, Ned, and Ernest Freeman; and two sisters, Lola Whisnant and Elsie Miller.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Rocky McLendon and the Rev. Ray Clemmons officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

At other times the family will be at the residence of Leonard and Dianne York.
