Lucy Taylor Carpenter

Lucy Taylor Carpenter, 75, of Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She was born in Avery County, NC on July 30, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Taylor and Cathy Phillips Taylor. Lucy retired from Shadowline, where she had worked for over 45 years. She was a good cook and loved to work outside. Lucy was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Scottie Elmer Carpenter; brothers, Wallace, William and Clyde Taylor; and sisters, Lucille Burleson, Sue Helton, Doris Pearson, and Lillian Wall.
She is survived by brothers, Don Taylor and wife, Betty of Newland, and Harold Taylor of Kings Mountain; sisters, Ruth Burleson of Florida and Louise Tate of Lexington; special friend, W.G. “Bud” Whisnant; special nephew and niece, Rodney Taylor and wife Samantha; nieces, Lisa Whisnant and husband, Dennis, Debbie Whisnant and husband, Rick, and Donna Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will follow in the Colonial Chapel at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Rose and Rev. Stephen Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 3394 Pea Ridge Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
