Lucy Taylor Franklin

Lucy Taylor Franklin, 90 of Morganton, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Mrs. Franklin was born in Buncombe County on May 5, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Richard Hall Taylor and Belle Briggs Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Haze Franklin; brothers, Bill, David, Clarence, and Richard Taylor; and by sisters, Estelle Laney and Mary Lee Scruggs. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was known as an outstanding cook.A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her children, Zelda Caorell of Dayton, OH, Bill Caorell of Morganton, Suzanne Franklin Auten and husband, Kevin, of Taylorsville, NC, Doug Franklin and wife, Shirley, of Morganton, and Kaye Franklin Lamb and husband, Dickie, of Mitchellsburg, KY; grandchildren, James Van Dyke and wife, Erin, Patricia, and Carol Ann; and great-grandchildren, Randy, Barry, and Casey Franklin, and Anouk Van Dyke; and a number of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Dewey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
