Luna Jean Dale, 81, of Morganton, NC went to be with her Heavenly Family on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Born in McDowell County, NC on July 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Luther Owensby and Mary Bell Smith Owensby. She was raised in the Baptist Faith and retired from Broughton Hospital after 12 years.Luna is survived by her daughter, Kathy Dale Morrison and her husband, Jack, of Morganton; grandchildren, Adam Morrison and his wife, Shirley, and Katie Nightengale; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Nightengale and Brooke Brewer; and a sister-in-law, Pat Baily of Morganton.In addition to her parents, Luna was preceded in death by her husband, James Norman Dale; brothers, Joe and Robert Owensby; and a sister, Ruby Holland.
The graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Burke Memorial park with Chaplain David Turbeville officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke United Christian Ministries, 305-B West Union Street, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
