Lura “Jeanne” Stegall

Lura “Jeanne” Stegall, 81 of Morganton, NC died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Grace Hospital.  She was born September 7, 1939 in Burke County and was the daughter of the late Glenn & Minnie Fleming.  In addition to her parents Jeanne was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill and Gerald Queen. Jeanne was married to Ralph Stegall, Jr.. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage. They loved to go antiquing and salt water fishing together. After her retirement they spent a great deal of time at the coast. She taught school at Burke County Schools until her retirement. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University. Jeanne was a member of Drexel First Baptist Church. Some of her hobbies included needle pointing and spending time with her beloved family.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Ralph Stegall, Jr. of the home; son, Jeff King (Norma) Rockingham, NC, s step daughter, Pam Stegall Lynes (Jerry) of Roaring River, Missouri and a step son, Kim Stegall of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jeanne is also survived by a sister, Betty Ramsey (Gwynn) of Lynchburg, Va. and a brother Grant Queen (Lib) of Clemmons, NC. She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.  Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
