Luther Carswell

Luther Carswell, 76, of Jonas Ridge, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born on March 5, 1945 in Burke County to the late Roysville Luther Carswell and Margaret Ruth Curtis Carswell. He was a member of Jonas Ridge Baptist Church. Luther retired from Drexel Heritage after 47 years. He loved to fish and work in the garden. He was a woodworker and enjoyed working on old cars. Luther loved listening to blue grass and country music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Van Carswell; sisters, Betty Hudson and Lela Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Estelle Beam Carswell; sons, Danny Ray Carswell and David Carswell (Beckey); grandchildren, Walker Carswell (Suzi), Dalton Carswell, Stephanie Liles, Ann Marie Perry (Blaine); great-grandchildren, Vivian Carswell and Killian Perry; Austin and Katie, who thought of him as a granddad; and his best friend, Maggie, his dog.

There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Jonas Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Donald Gragg officiating.
